Behind the Screen

    Behind the Screen is a short film which explores what it is like being a Dungeon Master, and the thought and care that goes into the preparation before the start of a session. It acts as a sort of finishing cap on the train of through I've been developing since the start of the class, about the work that goes into producing a meaningful narrative within a session of Dungeons and Dragons. This film also explores the intimacy of friendship across time and space. The work of a Dungeon Master culminates in something that is purely recreational in nature, but the reality is that being a DM is something that takes up not just a significant amount of time, but space as well - the real estate that Dungeons and Dragons takes up physically and emotionally is substantial. Nevertheless, it is a labor of love that serves as a shared experience to bring people closer together.
